Boussoit – Wastewater Treatment Plant
Construction of an extension to the wastewater treatment plant
The modernisation project for the Boussoit wastewater treatment plant aims to significantly strengthen wastewater treatment capacities, while meeting current environmental requirements.
The intervention provides for the doubling of the plant's capacity, increased from 19,000 to 40,000 population equivalents (PE), in order to anticipate demographic developments and improve the overall performance of the sanitation system.
This project ensures the treatment of wastewater from several entities, namely Boussoit, Maurage, Strépy-Bracquegnies, Houdeng-Goegnies, Houdeng-Aimeries and the west of La Louvière. It thus contributes to a more efficient and centralised management of wastewater flows across the territory.
Beyond the increase in capacity, the modernisation of the facilities integrates the optimisation of treatment processes, guaranteeing a better quality of discharges. The treated water is then returned to the natural environment, in this case the Haine and the Thiriau du Luc, in compliance with current environmental standards.
This project is part of a global approach to preserving water resources and protecting aquatic environments, while ensuring the sustainability of sanitation infrastructure in the face of future challenges.
