Reconstruction of a classroom building
The project concerns the partial reconstruction of the primary school of the Athénée Royal F. Jacquemin in Ploegsteert, with the aim of modernising the infrastructure while ensuring the continuity of school activities during the construction works.
The intervention is structured around the creation of a single volume, designed to bring together all functions within a coherent and functional envelope. This approach makes it possible to optimise internal circulation and ensure smooth accessibility without any break between the different spaces. Particular attention was nonetheless paid to the legibility of the zones, in order to clearly distinguish the pedagogical functions, the collective spaces and the circulation areas.
The architecture is characterised by a fragmented volume with varying heights, favouring a scale adapted to children and a harmonious integration into its environment. The design places emphasis on the well-being of users, with learning spaces widely open to the surrounding natural landscape. The classrooms and the refectory thus benefit from a generous supply of natural light and a direct relationship with the outdoors.
The playgrounds and outdoor circulation areas have been positioned so as to preserve the tranquillity of the teaching zones, guaranteeing an environment conducive to concentration and learning.
Carried out in association with the offices LT2A and ADEM, the project, with a surface area of 1,557 m², was conducted on behalf of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. Delivered in 2025, it mobilised the expertise of ADEM for structural stability, special techniques and energy performance (PEB), CoRePro for health and safety coordination, and DHERTE as general contractor.

Our carpentry workshop designed and manufactured several custom-made pieces for the school: bathroom furniture with integrated sink, storage furniture, and a kitchen unit.
