Le Vieux château de Flobecq
Extension of the restaurant "Le Vieux Château"
Nestled in the heart of an exceptional site, the extension of the Le Vieux Château restaurant in Flobecq elegantly engages in a subtle dialogue between contemporary architecture and historical heritage.
Like a drawbridge suspended between two eras, the new structure settles delicately on the riverbank, spanning the castle's centuries-old moat.
This bold architectural gesture does not seek to rival the existing building, but to inhabit it with respect and sensitivity, extending its spatial logic rather than breaking it. Far from being a simple functional enlargement, this project is an architectural statement: one of a modernity that listens, observes, and integrates fittingly with what it encounters. An approach rewarded in 2023 with the Young Architect Prize at the Grand Prix d'Architecture de Wallonie.
