Walcourt Municipal Administration
Renovation and transformation of the municipal administration building and the former Justice of the Peace of Walcourt.
The project aims to revitalise Walcourt's Town Hall through an in-depth study of circulation patterns, the rationalisation of spaces, and the creation of a welcoming and coherent atmosphere. The intervention seeks to clarify the internal organisation while highlighting the heritage character of the existing buildings.
One of the major architectural gestures consists of creating an opening in the roof to offer a framed view towards the Basilica of Walcourt, thereby establishing a symbolic dialogue between the municipal institution and its historical context.
The main challenge is to reunify the various municipal departments and recreate a functional and spatial link between the former Justice of the Peace and the Town Hall. This recomposition optimises the use of existing surfaces while offering spaces adapted to the current needs of the administration.
The scope of intervention also extends to the parking area located at the rear of the building, accessible from Ruelle du Coq, in order to make it a structuring element of the new municipal complex and to reinforce the coherence between the different entities.
